“Jules is the queen of small business PR. After working with her I felt more confident and prepared to work with media and work my own PR. I’d recommend learning from Jules to anyone wanting more exposure for their profile and business.”

The PR Accelerator

If you know what you’re doing, managing your own PR is easy and it’s one of the most powerful ways to grow your business.

The best thing about PR? It’s free! If you pitch your story right, the media will run it for nothing, and the rewards are huge. Unfortunately, paying a PR agency is so expensive that your free media coverage starts to look pretty expensive.

That’s why we’re so excited to teach small groups of 10 business owners to do their own PR. We want to empower you to reap the benefits of PR without paying over $3000 per month to an agency for the privilege.

Kick off your publicity education with our 2-day PR accelerator. You will learn:

  • All about the PR process
  • Defining your target market and target media
  • Building your media contact lists
  • How to write and format a media release
  • What to say when talking to the media and who to speak to
  • The power of follow up and how to do it
  • Creating your PR strategy for 3 months
  • Finding newsworthy angles
  • Using the online platform

By the end of the accelerator, you will not only know all about how to manage your own PR campaigns, but you will also have all the resources for three months of PR campaigns:

  • 3 newsworthy angles (minimum)
  • 3 completed media releases (we have publicists to help you write)
  • FREE access to the our online PR platform for 3 months, worth $897
  • Unlimited journalist contacts for 3 months (priceless!)
  • $3000 + gst

Reading Mountain
Susan Spelic is a school teacher who has created a new range of books for children who are reluctant readers. During the PR Accelerator she prepared a number of different media-friendly angles for her publicity campaign. She also brainstormed some story ideas with the PR professionals at the event and approached TV news producers on the second day of the course, with the contacts provided by the HYOPR platform. She was invited to go on the Channel 9 news the day after the Accelerator finished. What a result!
“The HYOPR Accelerator gave me a much greater understanding of how to write a media release and contact journalists as well as the amazing database they have. Within a day I had a positive response from the health reporter at SMH as well as the health reporter from national nine news the following week. This was just the first week alone. I am excited about how the year will go.”
Taylor Harrison, Founder of Active Seniors, Author

For up to 3 hours’ personal attention, at a time that suits you, one-on-one coaching may be the solution.

The coaching hours can be as flexible as you like, obviously depending on our schedules. We can either work through the campaign preparation very quickly (it could be done in 1-2 weeks) or more slowly over 3-4 weeks. Just let Jules know the pace you are comfortable with.

During this time, she will help you:

  • work out the right newsworthy angle/s for your PR goals
  • consider what, if any supporting material you should have (research, client comments etc)
  • teach you how to use the PR platform and give you free access for the duration of the coaching + 1 month
  • write your media release with advice along the way and tweaking where necessary
  • put your media pitch together, including the accompanying email or what to say if you call
  • help you build your media contact lists
  • be on hand as you start to send out the emails
  • work out alternative angles if the first one doesn’t work (it happens!)
  • work out a 3-6 month plan for your ongoing PR campaigns
  • $2500 + gst

Melbourne Headache Centre
Roger O’Toole from the Melbourne Headache Centre is a physio who treats patients with an amazing technique to eliminate migraine. He had some one-on-one coaching with Jules to understand the process and his newsworthy angles. After writing his media release, he pitched it to the Herald Sun.
The journalist loved the story and it ran in the first few pages of the paper along with a big photo. Then things started to take off! 3AW called and he did an interview for them, and then an interview for each of the nightly news programmes during the course of the day.
From that point on, he got about 1 inquiry per minute for the next two hours on his website and the inquiries kept coming by phone and online for the next few days. By the end of the second day, Roger had received 7 months’ worth of bookings. The publicity he got from just one media release took his business to a whole new level!

About Jules
For the last fifteen years, Jules has been teaching small business owners and entrepreneurs how to grow their sales and get their customers to start ringing them, after getting featured for free in the media.
She has owned and operated a number of small businesses herself and ran a PR agency specialising in small business clients, start-ups and entrepreneurs for well over a decade. She has worked in most disciplines in marketing, both in Australia and overseas, and loves to share her knowledge and experience.
HYOPR has helped over a thousand small business owners to make over $20 million of dollars’ worth of media exposure by running their own PR campaigns. By following her process, Jules’ students have been on Sunrise, Studio 10, Sky Business News, 3AW, 4BC, 6PR, Macquarie radio and been featured in Better Homes and Gardens, Inside Out, Anthill, Good Weekend and national newspapers such as The Age, Herald Sun, Courier Mail, Adelaide Advertiser, The West Australian and more. Some have even appeared on ACA – for the right reasons!
Jules manages to simplify the whole process to make handling your own PR an easy, achievable part of your marketing mix.
“Highly recommend HYOPR. Since working with Jules we have consistently been getting publicity, been featured a number of times online and had a national radio interview. If you’re willing to put in the effort and learn, it’s definitely worth your time.”
Lisa Pendergast, Your Hot Property
“I’ve been doing the training and it’s great! Best money I’ve spent on my business”.
Hannah Naylor, Effortless Eco
“We are implementing the training and with two upcoming launches over the next few weeks I am finding I am much more confident and on the front foot with our client’s marketing departments as far as delivering press releases and contacting the media, also feeling the love with your support and knowing we can touch base with questions.”
