Kick off the year with a PR accelerator. You will learn:

  • How to write and format a media release
  • What to say when talking to the media and who to speak to

By the end of the accelerator, you will not only know all about how to manage your own PR campaigns, but you will also have all the resources for three months of PR campaigns:

About Jules
For the last fifteen years, Jules has been teaching small business owners and entrepreneurs how to grow their sales and get their customers to start ringing them, after getting featured for free in the media.
She has owned and operated a number of small businesses herself and ran a PR agency specialising in small business clients, start-ups and entrepreneurs for well over a decade. She has worked in most disciplines in marketing, both in Australia and overseas, and loves to share her knowledge and experience.
HYOPR has helped over a thousand small business owners to make over $20 million of dollars’ worth of media exposure by running their own PR campaigns. By following her process, Jules’ students have been on Sunrise, Studio 10, Sky Business News, 3AW, 4BC, 6PR, Macquarie radio and been featured in Better Homes and Gardens, Inside Out, Anthill, Good Weekend and national newspapers such as The Age, Herald Sun, Courier Mail, Adelaide Advertiser, The West Australian and more. Melbourne Headache Centre
Roger O’Toole from the Melbourne Headache Centre is a physio who treats patients with an amazing technique using therapeutic massage around the neck and vertebrae to eliminate migraine. He came to Jules because he wanted to try doing his own PR to promote his clinic. He felt that his business and technique needed explaining and that PR would be the most effective way to get his message out.
Together, Jules and Roger decided to use a case study from one of his patients as the ‘hook’ for his story and after writing his media release, he pitched it to the Herald Sun.
The journalist loved the story and it ran in the first few pages of the paper along with a big photo. Then things started to take off!
3AW saw the story and contacted Roger for a radio interview at about 6.30am that morning. By the time he had gotten into the office, the phone as ringing off the hook and he had been contacted by all the major TV news crews. They came in at different points during the day to shoot their news segments and that evening the story ran in all the national news.
From that point on, he got about 1 enquiry per minute for the next two hours on his website and the enquiries kept coming by phone and online for the next few days. By the end of the second day, Roger had received 7 months worth of bookings. Since then he has increased the size of his clinic by employing more physios and expanding his office size to cope with the extra demand.
The publicity he got from just one media release took his business to a whole new level.

The Reading Mountain
Susan Spelic is a school teacher with 30 years’ experience who has created a new range of books especially for children who are reluctant readers, and their teachers. While Susan was keen to get some brand awareness for her new business (www.thereadingmountain.org), she didn’t have the budget to pay an agency to do it, so she decided to learn for herself.
During the 2 dayPR Accelerator she prepared a number of different media-friendly angles for her publicity campaign. She also realised that the school NAPLAN results were about to come out the next day so she brainstormed some story ideas with the PR professionals at the event and approached the TV news producers on the second day of the course, with the contacts provided by the HYOPR platform.
Susan (and we!) were all thrilled when she was invited to go on the Channel 9 news the day after the Accelerator finished, to show her expertise in the area of children’s literacy. Since then Susan has also secured further coverage with bloggers and there is more in the pipeline. What a result!
