Handle Your Own PR was born in 2008 when Jules Brooke – former PR agency founder, entrepreneur and small business owner – realised that paying a PR agency was out of the financial reach of most small businesses, entrepreneurs and start-ups.
Having run her own small business and specialised in small-business PR for many years, Jules had seen the power of PR to transform and grow businesses first hand. She also knew that many small businesses had incredible stories to tell, that the media is desperate for new content all the time and that PR is a process that can be taught. With this knowledge, Jules set out to empower small businesses to handle their own PR.
HYOPR began as a PR education provider, demystifying the PR process for small business owners by giving them tips and hints about dealing with the media, finding newsworthy angles, writing and distributing media releases and developing a PR strategy.
But over the years Jules realised that teaching people PR skills was only half the journey - she also needed to provide them with the tools to implement those skills! So she designed an innovative software platform - the “PR Engine” - to take PR handlers through the whole PR process, from writing a media release to building a media contact list to sending out the release with one click to hundreds of journalists.
In 2023, Jules decided to take HYOPR to the next level by joining forces with Jasmine Batra, founder and CEO of another female-led startup - Arrow Digital. Coming in as Co-Director and business partner, Jasmine brings with her Arrow Digital’s multi-skilled team of digital marketing, advertising and branding specialists - so we can help more businesses in more ways than ever before!

Jules is passionate about helping small businesses. Jules started her own graphic design company before setting up her PR agency, Handle Communications, in 2003. Handle Communications worked with numerous small and micro businesses and start-ups over the following years and Jules soon realised that although many people couldn’t afford to hire a PR agency, they had great stories to tell and the media would be excited to hear from them. So, in the aftermath of the GFC in 2008, Jules decided to set up Handle Your Own PR.
Jules is quite entrepreneurial and as well as managing her own small businesses, she has launched a few products on the market. She works hard to show people that doing PR is a skill that can be learned and she believes wholeheartedly that it is the best choice for anyone who wants to create awareness of their brand. In addition to her role with HYOPR, Jules is in high demand as a speaker, MC, interviewer, video & podcast host, PR coach, business mentor and founder of She’s the Boss Group.
Jasmine Batra

Jasmine Batra is an entrepreneur, speaker, businesswoman and educator, powered by learning and innovation within the digital space. A strategist and business mentor with a history of driving change, Jasmine founded the award-winning digital growth agency Arrow Digital in 2007 and now leads their team of over fifteen digital marketing specialists.
Jasmine loves helping small businesses to become more visible by empowering them to get their story out there in the media. She’s a passionate advocate for startups and tech entrepreneurs, and is the lead mentor in several business accelerator programmes including running an AusIndustry backed program ‘ The Big LEAP’ for facilitating international expansion of businesses growing and scaling their ventures.
